As promised earlier, Chronic Dev team released Absinthe for Windows with the similar functionality of its counterpart available on Mac. Surprisingly, it arrived in few hours after the release of CLI (command line utility) for Windows, by iPhone Dev team. Last week, dream team members promulgate much awaited A5 untethered jailbreak for devices like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running on iOS 5.0/ 5.0.1.

All prop goes to pod2g and his efforts behind finding and nurturing the userland exploit in conjunction with various prominent hackers of jailbreak community. The entire dream team has been working incessantly on this project, so that our dream doesn’t get shattered. Of course, those who are contented with what Apple offers by default can embrace stock iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 firmware, but those who want more freedom should go ahead and get the much deserved unrestrained access to your device.

Obviously, jailbreak community is always ready to welcome new members – iPhone 4S and iPad 2 device owners – with open arms. Break all the barriers and enjoy true freedom of using your device. Absinthe for Windows

As we’ve mentioned before, Absinthe for Windows works with iPad 2 running on iOS 5.0.1 and iPhone 4S running on iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1. iPhone 4S users willing to carrier-unlock their device should not UPDATE to iOS 5.0.1 firmware, since we can expect some positive progress in near future in this segment.

Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0/ 5.01 on Windows

Before we delineate the tutorial, make sure you backup all your important data first – SMS, photos, music, video files etc. It is also advisable that you fully charge your device beforehand and understand the risk of jailbreaking your device. It seldom happens that people actually brick their device during the jailbreak process, so you shouldn’t fear much.

Step 1: Download Absinthe for Windows from here

Step 2: Now unzip all of the content and run ‘absinthe’ as an administrator on your Windows PC.

Step 3: Plug-in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to your PC via USB cable. Absinthe will automatically detect the attached device for you.

Step 4: Just press Jailbreak and absinthe will take care of all the steps required to jailbreak your device. It should take some time sending payload to your device.

Step 5: Your device will automatically restart once done.

Step 6: After the program reboot your device, navigate to homescreen and locate Absinthe icon. Just tap on it.

Step 7: Absinthe will finalize iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak in a while. It will restart your device in jailbroken state.
